Frequently Asked Questions

We believe everyone can benefit from counseling. Much like it is important and necessary to care for our physical health, tending to our mental health is an important and normal aspect of being a healthy adult.
At Restored Counseling, we strive to deepen your understanding of yourself and your relationships. We have helped 1000’s of clients with symptoms like anxiety, depression, and trauma. We also provide marriage counseling helping couples with relationship problems like conflict, communication, disconnection, betrayal, and sexual dysfunction. However, you don’t have to be experiencing symptoms like that to benefit from counseling.
Research shows that the #1 predictor for successful therapy is the connection you have with your counselor. Therapy is also an investment of your time, money, and energy. It’s important you feel confident in the counselor you choose. You can start by thinking about what you are looking for in a counselor. Do you prefer working with a counselor who is interactive? Culturally sensitive? Are you looking to learn new skills? Set up consultation calls with a few counselors so you can get a sense of who they are, their approach, and if they have experience with the issues you want to address in therapy.
In the first session we will spend time understanding what has brought you to counseling and identify goals for your time in therapy. We believe in the power of story and our counselors strive to provide a safe space you can feel heard and seen.
The exact frequency you meet with your counselor is unique to you and your situation. Your counselor will make a recommendation after getting to know you. On average clients meet with their counselor 2-4x a month for 50-minute meetings. You will choose meeting frequency based on your counselor’s recommendation and your preferences.
Telehealth allows you to connect with a licensed mental health professional from anywhere. Many of our clients prefer the flexibility Telehealth offers, saving on travel time to and from a physical office space, and holding sessions in the comfort of their own homes. Video or phone therapy sessions are found to be just as effective as in-person sessions. Sessions are held over a HIPAA-secure video platform or by phone. It is important to find a space where you have privacy and will not be distracted.
Restored Counseling is in network with many major insurance providers. Please contact us so we can verify if we are in network with your provider.
Restored Counseling requires 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Late cancelations or missed appointments will be charged a $100 fee. Much like a doctor’s appointment, your session time is reserved by your counselor specifically for you. When changes are made beyond the cancellation window, you are still responsible for that reserved time since we can no longer offer it to other clients in need.
If you or someone you know is experiencing an emergency such as active suicidal thoughts or self-harming behaviors, please call 911 or visit an ER immediately.
